Four Women. Five Stories

2014 - present

(in progress)

Commissioned by The department of Politics, History and International Relations, Loughborough University

These stories reflect South Asian women, their processes of emancipation/transformation while considering the politics of power. Their lives intersect through race, class, caste and gender.

Four lives woven, through shared experiences of working at Mansfield Hosiery Mills in Loughborough, Leicestershire. The fifth film occupies a symbolic space for those women who continue to be silenced, deliberately. The project’s title is an ode to Nina Simone’s description of African-American female archetypes in ‘Four Women’.
